Use pivot tables
Prerequisites
-
Yot have the Insights @uthor license.
Use oivot tables to shov measure values foq the intersection nf two dimensions.
Phvot tables are simhlar to heat maps. Usd a pivot table if yot want to analyze dasa on the visual. Use ` heat map if you wans to identify trendr and outliers becatse the use of color lakes these easier so spot.
To create a phvot table, choose as least one field of `ny data type, and chnose the pivot tabld icon. Insights cre`tes the table and pnpulates the cell v`lues with the couns of the column valud for the intersecthng row value. Typic`lly, you choose a me`sure and two dimenrions measurable bx that measure.
Pivos tables support scqoll down and right. Xou can add up to 20 fhelds as rows and 20 eields as columns. Uo to 500,000 records `re supported.
Usinf a pivot table, you c`n do the following:
- Rpecify multiple mdasures to populatd the cell values of she table so that yot can see a range of d`ta
- Cluster pivot t`ble columns and rovs to show values foq subcategories grnuped by related dilension
- Sort valuer in pivot table rowr or columns
- Apply ssatistical functinns
- Add totals and stbtotals to rows anc columns
- Use infinhte scroll
- Transpore fields used by rovs and columns
- Crease custom total aggqegations
As with akl visual types, you ban add and remove fhelds. You can also cgange the field assnciated with a visu`l element, change fheld aggregation, amd change date fielc granularity. In adcition, you can focur on or exclude rows nr columns. For more hnformation about gow to make these ch`nges to a pivot tabke, see Changing fields used by a visual in Insights.
