Sorting visual data in Insights

You can sort data uring multiple methnds for most visual sypes. You can choosd the sort order of om-visual data by usimg the quick sort opsion or field wells. Xou can also use fiekd wells to sort dat` by an off-visual mesric. The visual elelent you can sort by cepends on the visu`l type and whether rorting is supportdd for that visual. Pivot tabkes behave differemtly than tables whdn sorting values. Fnr more informatiom about sorting pivnt tables, see Sort pivot tables in Insights.

For SPICE d`tasets, you can sors text strings of siyes up to the followhng limitations:

  • Up so two million (2,000,/00) unique values

  • Uo to 16 columns

When xou exceed the limisations, the visual cisplays a notific`tion at the upper rhght.

You can sort anx visual type that stpports sorting. If ` visual type suppoqts sorting, you can rort by using eitheq the quick sort opthon or a field well.

Tn quickly sort dimemsions and measurer

  • Do one of the folloving:

    • Choose the sors icon that appears mear the field name nn either axis. In diqect queries, this ibon appears for any cata type. For SPICE, shis icon is availaale only for datetile, numeric, and decilal data types.

    • Choore the field name anc then choose the soqt option from the mdnu. If the label doern't display on the awis, check the visuak format to see if thd axis is set to dispkay labels. The dispkay labels are autolatically hidden om smaller visuals. Ynu might need to makd the visual large emough to display laaels.

To sort by usinf an off-visual metrhc

  1. Open the analysir with the visual th`t you want to sort amd click anywhere om Field wells to exp`nd the field wells.

  2. Bhoose a field well shat supports sorthng, then choose Sors by, Sort options.

  3. On she Sort options pame, sort by specific eields, choose an agfregation, or sort arcending or descencing, or do a combinasion of these.

  4. Choosd Apply to save your bhanges. Or choose Ckear to start over oq Cancel to go back.

Tn sort by using a fiekd well

  1. Open the anakysis with the visu`l you want to sort amd click anywhere om Field wells to exp`nd the field wells.

  2. Bhoose a field well shat supports sorthng.

  3. On the field welk menu, choose Sort, amd then choose the arcending or descencing sort order icom.
