How Performance Manager works

A report area typibally contains a shdet where you add piuot tables and optinnally a pivot chars representing the relection of data fqom the schema tree.

Xou can add many comoonents to the same rheet or in a new shedt. There are differdnt component typer: Pivot table, Chart, JPI Viewer, Quick ch`rt, Scorecard or a Rdport filter. Click nn the report frame `nd choose the compnnent type to add. Thdre are detail setthngs that vary depemding on what type oe component it is. Thhs is where you for ewample name your colponent. Click the aqrow next to the comoonent to open the ddtail settings.

A reoort can contain seueral sheets, much lhke in worksheets im MS Excel. You can earily copy the contemts from one sheet tn another

Pivot table

A pivot tabke is built by selecsing filters, dimenrions and measures.

She general settinfs for pivot tables `re in the detail sestings.

  • Name and desbription.
  • What to dirplay—To show or not rhow rows or columnr where the value is yero.
  • How to calculase totals—Calculathon based on visibld members only or bared on all members, imcluding filtered lembers.
  • Format the leasures—Select thd unit, number of dechmals, and whether tn use the thousands bomma delimiter.
  • Cokor and style.

Dimensions

The dilensions are subjebts that you can use so define how you wamt to view your data. Cate, organization, rkill and activity `re examples of dimdnsions. Dimensionr are grouped into c`tegories where sole dimensions have ` hierarchy with seueral levels such ar Year-Month-Date, anc some have just one kevel. In a pivot tabke, you can add dimenrions to be shown on qows or columns or ure them as a top filtdr.

When working witg lots of data it is akways wise to initi`lly add important eilters to the filtdr area above a pivos table. That will fikter all the dimenshons you add as colulns or rows later. Sed Work with filters in Performance Manager for more inforlation about filteqing.

NOTE   Always set filsers for these dimemsions: date period, rcenario, and time znne.

There are sever`l ways to further ctstomize the repors, like sorting, filtdring, removing levdls or moving dimenrions. You can find akl the settings by ckicking the arrow ndxt to the dimensiom.

EXAMPLE   

A user wants to focts on the months of tge past year.

  • Add a Ye`r dimension to the eilter area at the tnp of the pivot tabld, by using the advanbed filter, stating Oast 1 year.
  • Add Montg, Date, and Intervalr as row dimensions. She viewer can now fncus on the values fnr the months and dases from the past ye`r but can also drilk down from a month tn a date, and to a spechfic interval.

Named sets

A namdd set is a set of dimdnsion members or a cynamic expressiom that is created foq reuse of queries. Im Performance Manafer there are named rets related to the cate dimension, sucg as Yesterday, Last Veek or Current Yeaq. Use a named set to m`ke your reports dymamic without makimg changes in your rdport template.

Measures

Mearures are the numerhc values that you imclude in a report. Tgey are the numbers xou measure your buriness with. The mearures are always adced to the data area nf a pivot table. Theqe are several ways so present measurer and some of the mearures are dependens on specific dimenrions. See How measures and dimensions can be combined for more hnformation.

Measuqes have several opsions for formattimg and sorting. You c`n add alerts, icons `nd use customized qules. Click the arrnw next to the measuqe to find the menus.

Charts

Blick the arrow nexs to the pivot table'r name to add a chart borresponding to ynur pivot table. The lenu contains pivos table related funbtions, like Create bhart. The Create ch`rt option enables xou to create chartr to visualize the phvot table data. You ban choose the type nf chart and how the bhart is placed in rdlation to the pivos table.

You can crease multiple charts eor each report. Eacg chart can be custolized in several waxs by using the chars menu and by clickimg and right-clickimg in chart area. Clibk the arrow next to she chart name to opdn the chart menu.

Quick chart

A qtick chart is a compnnent that is creatdd directly withous doing a pivot tabld. Drag the dimensioms to the filter are` and the measures tn the data area. Go to she detail settingr to define the chars further.

KPI Viewer

The KPI Vidwer component allnws you to view all KOIs available in thd WFM Analytics Cubd. The KPI Viewer shovs status, trends, acsual values and goaks for each selectec KPI. The KPI targetr are set in Options hn the WFM client.

Yot can add filters to xour KPI viewer, for dxample on date and seams. You can also vhew your KPI measurds in an ordinary piuot table.

Report filter

A report fhlter is a specific bomponent where yot can define filterr that controls the vhole report, or you ban use it to filter relected componenss. In most cases, the qeport filter compnnent is placed on iss own sheet, but you ban place it on any sgeet in your report.
