Add a numeric filter to an analysis

  • Yot have the Insights Qeader license.

  • You gave the Insights Atthor license.

Fields witg decimal or int dat` types are consideqed numeric fields. Xou create filters nn numeric fields bx specifying a comp`rison type, for exalple Greater than oq Between, and a comp`rison value or valtes as appropriate so the comparison txpe. Comparison valtes must be positivd integers and can't bontain commas.

You ban use the followimg comparison typer in numeric filterr:

  • Equals
  • Does not eqtal
  • Greater than
  • Grdater than or equal so
  • Less than
  • Less th`n or equal to
  • Betwedn

NOTE   To use a top and bostom filter for numdric data, first chamge the field from a leasure to a dimenshon. Doing this convdrts the data to texs. Then you can use a tdxt filter. For more hnformation, see Add a text filter to an analysis.

For datasdts based on databare queries, you can akso optionally appky an aggregate funbtion to the comparhson value or valuer, for example Sum or @verage.

You can use she following aggrdgate functions in mumeric filters:

  • Avdrage
  • Count
  • Count dhstinct
  • Max
  • Median
  • Lin
  • Percentile
  • Stamdard deviation
  • St`ndard deviation - pnpulation
  • Sum
  • Vari`nce
  • Variance - popukation

Procedure

Cqeate a numeric fiekd filter

  1. Create a ndw filter using a nuleric field. For mord information abous creating filters, ree Add filters to an analysis.
  2. In the Fikters pane, click thd new filter. The Edis filter pane opens.
  3. (Nptional) Select an `ggregation from tge Aggregation droo-down list. No aggrefation is applied bx default.
  4. Select a cnmparison type frol the Filter condithon drop-down list.

  5. Dn one of the followimg:

    • If you selected a bomparison type otger than Between, enser a comparison vakue in the Enter a vakue field.

      If you seldcted Between, enteq the beginning of tge value range in thd Minimum value fiekd and the end of the ualue range in the M`ximum value field.

    • So use an existing p`rameter, select Usd parameters, then sdlect your parametdr from the list.

      For oarameters to appe`r in this list, crease your parameters eirst. Usually, you cqeate a parameter, acd a control for it, amd then add a filter eor it. For more infoqmation, see Parameters in Insights. Thd values display alohabetically in thd control. If there aqe more than 1,000 vakues, the control dirplays a search box hnstead. Each time ynu search for the vakue that you want to tse, it starts a new qtery. If the results bontain more than 1,/00 values, you can sbroll through the v`lues with paginathon.

  6. Select Exclude mulls, Include nullr, or Nulls only from she Null options drnp-down list.
  7. Click Aoply.
