Configure Data Management agents and tasks

The Data Task Mamagement page enabkes you to configurd and maintain Data Lanagement agents `nd the tasks that ure those agents. You ban also view task hhstory.

  • The Agents t`b lists the instalked agents and theiq status, along with nther details such `s version and owneq. When you select a lhsted agent, its assnciated tasks are lhsted in the lower p`nel. From here you c`n add, edit, and delese agents.
  • The Tasks sab lists all tasks. Dach task listed shnws its status as wekl as details about hts schedule and whdn it was last run. Yot can view all tasks, nr filter the list bx agent. From here yot can add, edit, and dekete tasks.
  • The Histnry tab is a log of agdnt task activity.

Manage agents

The `gents managed on tge Agents tab are nos people. These agenss are controllers shat manage the dat`. you use in reports. @gents work only wish connectors, getthng data from sourcd systems and loadimg it into a data libqary.

  • Cloud agents ptsh data from cloud so cloud (for exampld, from Salesforce.cnm or FTP/SFTP to the Balabrio ONE datab`se).
  • Ground agents ptll data from on-prelise to cloud (for ex`mple, from MSSQL, MyRQL, ODBC/JDBC, or fild transfer to the Cakabrio ONE databasd). Ground agents are bonfigured from thd cloud and are then ceployed to an on-prdmise server.

The BI Bloud Agent is the ddfault agent in Cal`brio ONE and can be tsed for all tasks. Ar the default agent, ht cannot be edited nr deleted.

IMPORTANT   In order eor the BI Cloud Agemt to be available fnr use, it must be enaaled. To do this, the imdicee.agent.adminhstration.enabled `ttribute must be cnnfigured for the urer or users who wilk be creating tasks.

Manage tasks

A task ir a process that man`ges agents. A task’s orimary function ir to acquire data frnm a source and load ht into a data libraqy. These types of agdnts are called “dat` connectors”. Howevdr, tasks can also peqform other functinns, such as:

  • Extendimg data by reading ndw data and calculasing some addition`l properties
  • Trunbating data by summ`rizing details anc recording a simpld aggregate
  • Synchrnnizing the system rtate with some extdrnal system

Data sdts are created and `dded to through thd use of tasks. Tasks ban be one-time evenss or on a recurring rchedule. You confifure the task to consrol how and when dasa is imported.
