I am seeing CannotDowngradeSoleOwnerError when changing an Insights Author to an Insights Reader

Use the following section to troubleshoot the CannotDowngradeSoleOwnerError that appears when changing an Insights Author to an Insights Reader.

This issue occurs when the user being demoted is still the sole owner of one or more Insights analyses or dashboards. After the license is downgraded, the user no longer has permission to own or manage Insights content. This behavior is expected and is designed to prevent orphaned Insights content.

Problem Solution

I am trying to change an Insights Author to an Insights Reader after creating or being assigned one or more Insights analyses or dashboards, but I see the error message CannotDowngradeSoleOwnerError.

Reassign the Insights Author license and transfer ownership

IMPORTANT   Only the original Insights Author can complete these steps.

  1. Ask your Calabrio site administrator to temporarily reassign an Insights Author license to the affected user. See Give users access to Insights for instructions on assigning licenses.

  2. Once the user has an Insights Author license again, transfer ownership of all Insights analyses:

    1. Share each Insights analysis with another Insights Author.

    2. Grant the new user co-owner access.

    3. Have the new Insights Author remove the original user as a co-owner from each analysis.

  3. After ownership has been successfully transferred, demote the user to an Insights Reader.

    1. If the error persists:

    2. Clear the browser cache.

    3. Log out of Calabrio ONE.

    4. Log back in.

  4. If no action is taken, the error automatically stops occurring 30 days after the user is demoted. This delay is due to how Insights recycle bin handles deleted or orphaned content.
