Dynamic shrinkage

Dynamic shrinkage is used to reduce the manual work to adjust the shrinkage levels for days in the near future. With dynamic shrinkage, a gradually decreasing share of the original shrinkage defined in the skill template is used. If the skill template has varying shrinkage values for different intervals of the day, the new applied shrinkage is calculated on interval level.

Dynamic shrinkage can gradually decrease the applied shrinkage for a period starting maximum 30 days from today and until today.

Create dynamic shrinkage templates which define what share of the original shrinkage to keep for today and the length of the period over which the shrinkage share decreases. One dynamic shrinkage template can be used for several skills. See Manage dynamic shrinkage for more information on how to create dynamic shrinkage templates and connect them to the skills.

The calculation of the shrinkage to apply for each day is based on this formula:

Applied shrinkage = Shrinkage share for the day × Original shrinkage from the skill template in use for that day

EXAMPLE

In the dynamic shrinkage template, the shrinkage share to use for today is set to 10%. The dynamic shrinkage period is set to 10 days.

NOTE   The applied shrinkage values are rounded to the nearest integer.

With dynamic shrinkage templates connected to the skills, the applied shrinkage values for each day and interval are shown in the Forecasts module in the WFM client. The shrinkage values for the dynamic shrinkage period appear dimmed and cannot be edited. For any dates before or after the dynamic shrinkage period, the original shrinkage values from the skill templates are shown.

The dynamic shrinkage values are updated each night, according to the server time zone. This also means that when you first connect a dynamic shrinkage template to a skill or when you change the dynamic shrinkage template, you cannot see the updated shrinkage values in the Forecasts module in the WFM client until the next day.
