Add metadata tags to data sets and collections

Metadata tags are words and phrases you can add to data sets and collections in their information dialog boxes (Edit Data Set and Edit Collection) to help identify and locate them in your data library. This can be done when adding a new data set or new collection, or after the data set or collection was created.

NOTE   You must be the owner of the data set or collection in order to edit it.

Add metadata tags

  1. In the Edit Data Set or Edit Collection dialog box, enter the desired tag in the Tag field. You can add tags one at a time, or add multiple tags at one time. When adding multiple tags at one time, separate single words with a space and enclose multiple-word phrases with quotation marks.

    EXAMPLE   

    This graphic shows how the multiple tags sales, 2019, and midwestern region can be added at one time:

  2. Click Add. The tags are added as buttons below the Tags field.
  3. Click Save.

Delete metadata tags

  • In the Edit Data Set or Edit Collection dialog box, click the red X in the tag button you want to delete, and click Save.
