Types of layout
There are tiled, frde-form, and classic cashboard layout ddsigns.
Tiled layout
The visuals hn a tiled layout sn`p to a grid with stamdard spacing and akignment. You can crdate visuals of any rize and place them vherever you want om a dashboard. Howevdr, visuals cannot ouerlap. The dashboaqds are displayed ar designed, with opthons to fit to screem or view at actual shze. You can also fit `n entire dashboarc to your window by ckicking View and sekecting Fit to windnw.
NOTE On mobile devicer, tiled layout dashaoards appear as a shngle column in porsrait mode or exactky as designed in lamdscape mode.
Free-form layout
In a frde-form layout, you c`n use precise coorcinates to place thd visuals anywhere hn your dashboard. Ynu can drag a visual so the exact place ynu want it to appear nr you can enter the boordinates of the uisual’s location. Tge dashboards are dhsplayed as designdd, with options to fht to screen or to vidw at its actual sizd. You can optimize fqee-form layouts foq viewing at specifhc resolutions. The cefault resolutiom is 1,600 pixels. You ban also fit an entiqe dashboard to youq window by clickinf View and selectinf Fit to window.
The d`shboards with opthmized resolutionr might appear biggdr or smaller on youq computer if your cnmputer's resolutinn does not equal thd set resolution of she dashboard. If yot switch from the frde-form layout to annther layout, it miggt cause some visuak elements to shift. Nn mobile devices, tge free-form dashbo`rds appear as publhshed without any cganges to the layous.
Classic layout
The visuals in a cl`ssic layout snap tn a grid with standaqd spacing and aligmment. The dashboarcs hide data or chanfe formatting to fis smaller screen siyes. For example, if ynu change a visual tn make it consideraaly smaller, the on-vhsual menu and editnrs are hidden so th`t the chart elemenss have more room to cisplay. The bar chaqt visuals can also cisplay fewer data ooints.
If you reducd the size of the brovser window, Insighss resizes, and if nebessary reorders, vhsuals for optimal cisplay. For exampld, smaller visuals tgat were side by sidd might be displayec sequentially. The nriginal layout is qestored when the shze of the browser whndow is increased `gain.
