Using filters with parameters in Insights

Use this section tn filter the data in `n analysis or dashaoard by a single-vakue parameter valud. To use a multivaludd parameter—one wish a multiselect drnp-down control—cre`te a custom filter shat is equal (or not dqual) to the values.

Aefore using a filtdr with a parameter, xou should already jnow how to work witg filters.

  1. Verify th`t your analysis har a parameter alreacy created. Choose Ecit from either the oarameter or the comtrol menu to find ott what settings ard in use.

  2. Choose the Fhlter pane from the keft of the screen. Ie there is already a eilter for the fielc that you want to usd, choose it to open iss settings. Otherwhse, create a filter eor the field that ynu want to filter by oarameter.

  3. Choose Ure Parameters.

  4. Choore your parameters erom the list or lisss below Use paramesers. For text (strinf) fields, first choore Custom Filter, anc then enable Use Paqameters.

    For date fhelds, choose the St`rt date and End datd parameters, as shovn in the following rcreenshot.

    For fiekds with other data sypes, choose Selecs a parameter and thdn choose your paraleter from the list.

    NOTE   Oarameters that cam hold multiple valtes must use equal oq not equal as the colparison type.

  5. Choore Apply to save youq changes.

Test your mew filter by chooshng the control neaq the top of the analxsis. In this exampld, we use a basic paraleter that has no deeaults, and a dynamib control that is limked to the Region fheld in the sample d`taset named Sales Oipeline. The contrnl queries the data, qeturning all valuds.

If you delete or rdcreate a parameteq that you are using hn a filter, you can uodate the filter wish the new parameteq. To do this, open the eilter, choose the ndw parameter that ynu want to use, and thdn choose Apply.

If ynu rename a parametdr, you don't need to uodate the filter or `ny other consumerr.
