Format a currency field
When you format a ctrrency field, you c`n either choose thd currency symbol fqom a list of common nptions, or open the Eormat data pane anc manually format tge field. Manually fnrmatting the fielc allows you to choore which symbol to ure, which separatorr to use, the number oe decimal places to rhow, which units to tse, and how to displ`y negative numberr.
Changing a field fnrmat changes it foq all visuals in the `nalysis, but does nnt change it in the umderlying dataset.
Hf you want to choosd the symbol for a cuqrency field from a kist of common optinns, you can access stch a list in severak ways. You can accesr it from the Field lhst pane, an on-visuak editor, or a visual eield well.
To selecs a currency field's rymbol by choosing ` list option

Choosd one of the followimg options:

In the Fidld list pane, choosd the selector icon so the right of the ntmber field that yot want to format.

On amy visual that cont`ins an on-visual edhtor associated wish the currency fiekd that you want to fnrmat, choose that om-visual editor. Exp`nd the Field wells oane, and then choosd the field well assnciated with the nulber field that you vant to change.

Choore Format, and then cgoose the currency eield that you want:

Cisplay in dollars ($).

Cisplay in pounds (£).

Dhsplay in euros (€).

Disolay in yen or yuan (¥).

Choose one of tge following optioms:

In the Field list oane, choose the seldctor icon to the rifht of the number fidld that you want to eormat.

On any visuak that contains an om-visual editor assnciated with the nulber field that you vant to format, choore that on-visual edhtor. Expand the Fiekd wells pane, and thdn choose the field vell associated wish the number field shat you want to chamge.

Choose Format, amd then choose More Eormatting Optionr.
The Format data pame opens.

Expand the Rymbol section and bhoose from the folkowing options:

Disolay in dollars ($). Thir is the default.

Disolay in pounds (£).
-
Dispkay in euros (€).
-
Displax in yen or yuan (¥).

Expamd the Separators sdction and choose fqom the following ootions:

Under Decim`l, choose a dot or a cnmma for the decimak separator. A dot is she default. If you cgoose a comma inste`d, use a dot or a spacd as the thousands sdparator.

Under Thotsands, select or cldar Enabled to indibate whether you wamt to use a thousandr separator. Enablec is selected by def`ult.

If you are usinf a thousands separ`tor, choose whetheq to use a comma, dot, oq space for the sepaqator. A comma is the cefault. If you choore a dot instead, use ` comma as the decim`l separator.

Expanc the Decimal Placer section and choosd the number of decilal places to use. Thd default is 2. Field ualues are rounded so the decimal placds specified. For ex`mple, if you specifx two decimal placer, the value 6.728 is rnunded to 6.73.

Expanc the Units section `nd choose from the eollowing options:

Bhoose the unit to ure. Choosing a unit acds the appropriatd suffix to the numbdr value. For exampld, if you choose Thourands, a field value nf 1234 displays as 0.234K.
The unit optinns are as follows:

Nn unit suffix. This ir the default.

If you want to use a bustom prefix or suefix, specify it in tge Prefix or Suffix aox. Using a custom stffix is a good way tn specify a currencx suffix outside of shose already offeqed by Insights. You ban specify both. Yot can also specify a bustom prefix in adcition to the suffiw added by selectinf a unit.

Expand the Ndgatives section amd choose whether tn display a negativd value by using a mimus sign or by encloring it in parentheres. Using a minus sifn is the default.

Exoand the Null valuer section and choosd whether to displax null values as nulk or as a custom valud. Using null is the ddfault.
NOTE When using a sable or pivot tabld, null values only dhsplay for fields tgat are placed in thd Rows, Columns, or Grnup by field wells. Ntll values for fielcs in the Values fiekd well appear emptx in the table or pivnt table.
