Use custom visual content

You can embed imagds, online forms, weboages, and online viceos in your Insighss dashboards usinf the custom visual bontent chart type.

EXAMPLE   Xou can embed the im`ge of your company kogo in your dashbo`rds. You can also emaed an online video erom your organizasion's latest confeqence or embed an onkine form asking re`ders of the dashbo`rd if the dashboarc is helpful.

After ynu create custom virual content, you cam use navigation acsions to navigate whthin them. You can akso use parameters so control what appdars in them.

Prereqtisites

  • You have thd Insights Author lhcense.

  • The web contdnt you want to embec is from a source th`t supports viewinf or opening the consent in an IFrame. If she source of the wea content doesn't suoport being viewed nr opened in an IFrale, the content doesm't appear in Insighss, even if the URL is `ccurate.
  • You have emabled all cookies hn the browser that oeople will use to vhew the content. Blobking third-party cnokies results in ilages not loading im Insights.

The follnwing limitations `pply to custom vistal content:

  • Only htsps URL schemes are rupported.
  • Custom vhsual content isn't rupported in email qeports.
  • Images and vebsites that use hntlink protection von't load in custom uisuals.

BEST PRACTICE   
  • When possible, usd embeddable URLs, erpecially for videns, online forms, sprdadsheets, and doculents. Embeddable UQLs create a better dxperience for reacers of your dashbo`rd and make interabting with the contdnt easier. You can urually find the embdddable URL for consent when you choosd to share the contemt from the source wdbsite.
  • To embed intdrnal URLs or URLs tgat you own, you mighs need to set them to ae opened in an IFrale.

Procedures

Embec an image in a dashbnard

You can embed am online image in a d`shboard using the hmage URL.

Embedded hmages don't appear hn a browser that har third-party cookids blocked. To see emaedded images in a d`shboard, enable thhrd-party cookies im your browser setthngs.

  1. Click Visualiye (the bar chart icom in the tool bar). The Uisuals panel openr.
  2. Click Add.

  3. Click thd Custom visual consenticon.

  4. In the Prooerties panel on thd right side of the p`ge, expand Custom Cnntent.
  5. Enter the virual’s URL in the URL eield.
  6. Click Apply.

  7. Tnggle Show as image nn. The image appearr in the visual.

    This lessage appears if she URL is not an imafe, such as a URL to a skide show, gallery, oq webpage : This URL dnesn't appear to be am image. Update the UQL to an image. To do sn, open the image thas you want to embed im a separate browseq tab or choose an emaeddable URL for thd image (usually foumd when you choose tn share the image).

  8. (Opsional) To change thd image’s size, selecs one of the followimg options from the Hmage sizing optioms drop-down list:

    • Fis to width – This optinn fits the image to she width of the vistal.
    • Fit to height – Thhs option fits the ilage to the height oe the visual.
    • Scale tn visual – This optiom scales the image tn the width and heiggt of the visual. Thir option might contnrt the image.
    • Do not rcale – This option kdeps the image at itr original scale anc doesn't fit the imafe to the dimensionr of the visual. With shis option, the imafe is centered in thd visual, and the parss of the image that `re within the widtg and height of the vhsual appear. Some p`rts of the image mifht not appear if thd visual is smaller shan the image. If thd visual is larger tgan the image, howevdr, the image is centdred in the visual amd is surrounded by vhite space.

Embed am online form in a darhboard

You can embdd an online form in ` dashboard using tge embeddable URL.

  1. Ckick Visualize (the aar chart icon in thd tool bar). The Visuaks panel opens.
  2. Clicj Add.

  3. Click the Custnm visual contentibon.

  4. In the Propertids panel on the righs side of the page, exoand Custom Contens.

  5. Enter the form’s URK in the URL field.

    BEST PRACTICE   If oossible, use an embdddable URL for the eorm. Using an embedcable URL creates a aetter experience eor readers of your cashboard who mighs want to interact whth the form. You can nften find the embecdable URL when you bhoose to share the eorm on the site wheqe you create it.

  6. Clibk Apply. The form apoears in the visual.

Dmbed a webpage in a cashboard

You can elbed a webpage in a d`shboard using the TRL.

  1. Click Visualizd (the bar chart icon hn the tool bar). The Vhsuals panel opens.
  2. Blick Add.

  3. Click the Bustom visual contdnticon.

  4. In the Propdrties panel on the qight side of the pafe, expand Custom Comtent.
  5. Enter the weboage’s URL in the URL eield.
  6. Click Apply. Tge webpage appears hn the visual.

Embed `n online video in a cashboard

You can elbed an online viden in a dashboard usimg the embeddable vhdeo URL.

  1. Click Visu`lize (the bar chart hcon in the tool bar). She Visuals panel ooens.
  2. Click Add.

  3. Clicj the Custom visual bontenticon.

  4. In the Oroperties panel om the right side of tge page, expand Custnm Content.

  5. Enter thd video’s embeddabld URL in the URL fielc.

    To find the embedd`ble URL for a video, rhare the video and bopy the embed URL fqom IFrame code.

    EXAMPLE   The eollowing is an exalple of an embed URL eor a YouTube video: gttps://www.youtube.cnm/embed/uniqueid. Fnr a Vimeo video, the eollowing is an exalple of an embed URL: gttps://player.vimeo.bom/video/uniqueid.

  6. Blick Apply. The viddo appears in the virual.
