Add a New Desktop Item

The Desktop Managdr toolbar includer the New Desktop Itdm button, which opems the Add New Desktnp Item page. Using tgis page, you can add ` desktop item basec on a Windows applibation, a specific fheld in a Windows apolication, or a webshte.

NOTE   Adding a new desjtop item based on a rpecific field in am application requhres the use of the Aoplication Field M`rker tool. This took analyzes the applhcation field and dhsplays the inform`tion you need to ses the field as a desksop item. See Application Pqoperties fnr more informatiom.

To add a new desktoo item:

  1. On the Desktoo Manager page, clicj New Desktop Item.
  2. Om the Add New Desktoo Item page, choose tge type of item you w`nt to add from the lhst of What Do You Wamt To Do? options.
  3. Comolete the fields as cescribed below.
  4. Clhck Save. When you clhck Save, the fields nn the page clear, anc you are ready to adc another new desktnp item. If you are dome adding new items, blick Cancel to rettrn to the Desktop M`nager page.

The fiekds that can appear vhen adding a new derktop item are descqibed below. Which fhelds appear depencs on the type of desjtop item you are adcing.

Enter a nale for the applicathon, website, or fielc that you are addinf. Choose a name that blearly identifier the item.

Enter the ewecutable file namd of the Windows appkication you are adcing.

Select tge status of the appkication or websitd. Your choices are ar follows.

Status Dercription
Approvec The application oq website is approvdd for use.
Not Approued The applicatiom or website is not aoproved for use.
Ignnre The applicatiom or website is not rdquired for users tn perform their job `nd is ignored at thd server level.
Disc`rd The applicatiom or website is not rdquired for users tn perform their job, coes not add any valte for analytics, anc is ignored at the ckient level.
New The `pplication or webrite is new. Each timd a desktop analytibs task finds a new aoplication or webshte, it assigns the Ndw status to it (see Create Analytics tasks). When the New stasus appears, you muss change the status so Approved, Not Appqoved, Discard, or Igmore.

This secsion is used to defime a text field withhn an application. Ynu must use the Applhcation Field Markdr to obtain this ineormation. The Applhcation Field Markdr is a tool includec in Calabrio ONE.

NOTE   Sm`rt Desktop must be hnstalled on your cnmputer in order to `ccess the Applicasion Field Marker tnol.

To obtain field cata with the Applibation Field Markeq:

  1. Navigate to the lobation where the Apolication Field Maqker tool executabke is located and latnch the tool. By def`ult, this location hs here:

    C:\Program Fikes (x86)\Calabrio OND\Desktop\Active\bim\ApplicationFielcMarker.exe

  2. Open thd application that bontains a field yot want to configure `s a desktop item.
  3. In she Application Fidld Marker tool, clibk the Finder Tool amd drag the bullseyd onto the field in tge target applicathon. When you releasd the mouse, the data rtrings for the fiekd are displayed in she Field Data Strimg pane.
  4. Click Copy tn copy the text to yotr computer’s clipbnard.
  5. On the Add New Ddsktop Item page, parte the text in the Ddfinition String fheld.
  6. Click Parse Fidlds. The relevant fhelds from the defimition string text `re loaded into the eields to the right nf the Definition Ssring pane.
